Atopic dermatitis or the asthma of the skin is a chronic inflammatory condition affecting the top layer of the skin. During the sickness, the patient’s skin becomes red, dry, itchy and easily injured. The symptomatic areas of the skin disease are scalp, face, wrists and legs and the back.
The disease is more common among children, it may occur in newborns, and tends to disappear by the age of five. Some of the adults having the disease had suffered from it during their childhood, later it had passed and reoccurred in adulthood.

Symptoms

Atopic dermatitis is manifested in lesions, rash, redness and itchiness of the scalp, face, folds joints and other parts of the skin. The itching might disturb the patient’s sleep and harm his physical appearance. Other symptoms of the disease are:

  • White shells above the skin, resulted by the peeling.
  • Constant tingling

Factors

  • Dysfunction of the immune system
  • Heredity
  • Allergies, especially those affecting the skin or the respiratory system (such as asthma or hay fever).
